UniKL MIMET and UniKL RCMP have participated in the annual MARA Perak Badminton Tournament which was held on the 23^rd February 2013 at Sekolah Menengah Agama Perempuan Ta’ayah, Ipoh. The tournament was held to concrete the unity and brotherhood among MARA agencies in Perak. It was also participated by MARA State Office, MRSM Lenggong, MRSM Pengkalan Hulu, MRSM Felda Trolak, MRSM Taiping and Kolej Professional MARA Seri Iskandar.

The tournament was launched by the MARA Perak Director, Puan Rusnah Yusoff. In her launching speech, she had mentioned the importance of participating in sports that could be a good unity medium and to promote healthy lifestyle which could improve the work quality among MARA personnel. The MARA State Office would give their full support and cooperation to all MARA agencies in organizing any sports tournament.

At the end of the tournament, it was a fruitful success for UniKL MIMET and UniKL RCMP. UniKL MIMET has emerged as champions in both men’s team and women’s double event. While UniKL RCMP finished 4^th in the men’s team event and 1^st runner up in the women’s double.

In the final of the men’s team event, UniKL MIMET fought bravely to overcome the strong challenger from MRSM Lenggong. Both the 1^st and 2^nd pair’s games were extended to the rubber sets. In the end, UniKL MIMET emerged as victor and won the final game 2-0. UniKL RCMP men’s team were lost to MRSM Pengkalan Hulu in the 3^rd & 4^th placing match.

Meanwhile in the women’s double event final, it was a game between sisters where UniKL MIMET and UniKL RCMP were drawn against each other after gruelling preliminary rounds. The final game was intense, full of actions with brilliant moves and strategies. But at last, UniKL MIMET women double pair won the match in straight sets and been crowned as 2013 MARA Perak Badminton champion.

All UniKL teams participated in the 2013 MARA Perak Badminton Tournament as preparation to the upcoming Karnival Sukan Staf UniKL (SSUK). The tournament was a great training ground to gain experience, strategies and to measure the strengths and weaknesses of the teams before participating in the SSUK 2013.
